FAQ

  • Where is it?

The Dining Hall at Queens College, City University of New York 65-30 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY 11367

  • Who is coming?

We are expecting about 250-300 hackers from across the country.

  • Who can attend?

Anyone who defines themselves as female, women, non-binary, from high school to college students are welcomed! We definitely look forward to seeing FIRST TIME HACKERS! However, minimum age for participation is sixteen (16).

  • Do I need experience?

Absolutely not! Our hackathon is completely beginner’s friendly and we welcome those without any coding experience or background. There will be mentors, workshops, and other resources to help you during the hackathon!

  • Are there any rules?

We want all of our participants to have a positive experience. We encourage you to read our code of conduct.

  • What should I bring?

Laptop, phone, charger, something to sleep on (sleeping bag/bedsheet - if you plan to stay overnight) if you want, toothbrush, and toothpaste.

  • Is overnight stay obligatory?

No! But we encourage hackers to stay for the opening and closing ceremony as well as judging. Hackers are allowed to leave the building except during the times between 10pm-6am due to safety reasons.

  • Can we form teams?

Absolutely! Whether you have a team ready as you come into the event or are unsure of who to work with, we will have a networking session so you can talk to other hackers to form a team of your choice. If you still need help finding a team, our organizers and volunteers will be there to help out!

  • Does it cost anything?

    No! 100% free!

  • Will transportation be provided?

Unfortunately, we will not be providing travel reimbursements this year.
